Frequently Asked Questions/GlowPoint

Q. Is GlowPoint running on the public Internet?

A. NO. The GlowPoint network is a private network where packets do not traverse the public Internet.

Q. Is GlowPoint a "closed network"?

A. It is a dedicated private network however we have the ability to get off of our network to speak with other networks today. Our gateway services can handle both inbound and outbound calling.

Q. Does GlowPoint limit the speed of a video call?

A. The only limit of the video call is the bandwidth the customer selects. The one caveat being that IP overhead needs to be accounted for each circuit. Example our 512k service offering is a 768k circuit and our 1.2 T offering is a 1.5 circuit

Q. Why can't I use the DSL that is already in my office?

A. We work with specific SDSL (not ADSL) providers, not all. In order to use GlowPoint a circuit must need to be ordered and provisioned through us.

Q. Why can't I run my data and my VOIP application on GlowPoint?

A. We have found the most successful organizations that have deployed video are ones that keep video as a parallel environment.
